Research Study #1: The Status of Benchmarking at Higher Education Institutions
On behalf of and in conjunction with NUTN, Hezel Associates has launched the Benchmarking for Quality in Distance Learning Study to explore the issues related to benchmarking for distance learning, and to assist college and university distance learning organizations in building their own benchmarking capacity.

The Initial Survey – which began in March – is now complete! Here's what we're finding so far:

  • Slightly more than half of respondents say their institution does external benchmarking of distance learning, but few similarities exist in the types of data benchmarked or in the types of institutions against which they benchmark.
  • Nearly all respondents indicated that their institution collects data on finance, technology, student satisfaction and retention for their distance learning programs, but few reported benchmarking that data against other institutions
  • Respondents cited enrollment, course development and design, advising and technical help services, and student satisfaction and learning as the being the most important distance learning assessment areas to their institutions.

Complete findings from the initial survey are available. Please follow the link below to view and download the report.
